Washington Research Library Consortium (WRLC)

The Washington Research Libraries Consortium (WRLC), established in 1987, is comprised of research libraries that support universities within and surrounding the D.C. Metropolitan area. Partner universities include: American University, The Catholic University of America, Gallaudet University, George Mason University, The George Washington University, Georgetown University, Marymount University and The University of the District of Columbia.

In 2011, upon joining the eight-member Washington Research Library Consortium (WRLC), Howard University more than quadrupled the number of resources it can make available to patrons of its campus libraries. The library system currently provides its on-site and online visitors with access to the WRLC’s shared online catalog of over 11 million print and electronic books, journals, multimedia resources, and special collections, along with Primo VE, the WRLC’s robust search and discovery infrastructure. In addition to the catalog and borrowing privileges at any WRLC-member library, Howard University students, faculty, and staff can use the WRLC’s Consortium Loan Service (CLS) to request books or articles. Delivery is typically within one or two days. E-materials are downloaded to your library account, while print materials can be picked up at Founders.
