Information about 3D Printing

What is 3D Printing

3D printing, also known as additive manufacturing, is a process of creating three-dimensional objects from a digital file by adding material layer by layer. Unlike traditional manufacturing methods that often cut away material (like carving or machining), 3D printing builds objects from the ground up.

How does 3D Printing work?

3D Printing is usually done in 3 steps:

  1. Design: You start with a 3D model, usually created in CAD (computer-aided design) software.
  2. Slicing: The 3D model is "sliced" into thin horizontal layers using slicing software. These layers guide the printer.
  3. Printing: The printer lays down material (like plastic or resin) one layer at a time, following the sliced design.
